The islets Agios Nikolaos and Panagia protect the harbour from strong winds, making the scenery look majestic. Travelling from Corfu Island
You can travel from Corfu to Paxos by ship, hydrofoil or sea taxi. If you want to avoid spending the night in Corfu, arrange an early flight to Corfu. Â

- Hydrofoil: 55 minutes trip
Ferry: 3 hours 15 minutes (via Igoumenitsa)
Sea taxi: about 20 minutes (from Kavos or Lefkimi)
Travelling from Athens, Thessaloniki & Eastern Europe to Paxos
From Athens to Paxos
- Drive to Patras via national highway and catch the ferry to Paxos via Corfu.
- Follow the route Rio – just before Patras- Antirrio (via the bridge) and through Ionia Odos (Ionia Highway) drive to Ioannina, and then head to Igoumenitsa where you will get the ferry to Paxos. As it is quite a long way, you can spend the night in Ioannina and continue your trip the next morning.
- Follow the route Rio -just before Patras- Antirrio and head to Aktio - Preveza and then to Igoumenitsa. If you arrive early at Igoumenitsa you will manage to get the midday ferry to Paxos, otherwise you can stay at Igoumenitsa for a night and catch the early morning ferry to Paxos the following day.
From Thessaloniki to Paxos
- If you have plenty of time, drive to Ioannina via Egnatia Odos (Egnatia Highway). From there you can drive to Igoumenitsa and take the morning ship to Paxos.
- Alternatively you can drive from Thessaloniki straight to Igoumenitsa via Egnatia Odos. If you set off early from Thessaloniki you may manage to be on time at Igoumenitsa to catch the midday ferry to Paxos.
From Eastern Europe to Thessaloniki and then Paxos
If you want to travel to Paxos from Eastern Europe, you best bet would be to fly to Thessaloniki and then rent a car from the airport to drive to Igoumenitsa via Egnatia Highway, stay the night in Igoumenitsa and catch the ferry to Paxos the following morning.
You can travel to Paxos via Igoumenitsa Port from Italy
If you are travelling from Italy to Greece by ferry and want to visit Paxos, check out the following ferry departures valid in high season (July and August):
- Brinidsi Port directly to Paxos
- Ancona, Bari and Venice to Igoumenitsa. Upon arrival at Igoumenitsa, catch the ferry to Paxos. Ferry departures are very often from Igoumenitsa port and the trip takes approximately 1 ½ hour.
